STEM GIRLS Week

Worldwide girls in STEM movements in one week.

February 11–18, 2027

The event agenda opens in December.

What inspires us?

Girls in STEM deserve our own week

Today there are thousands of movements bringing girls closer to science, technology, engineering and math. STEM GIRLS Week brings them together for one week every year, starting on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

We're inspired by the music festivals and fandoms that move our generation: glitter, charms and friendship bracelets. If there's a Tech Week and a Social Media Week, science can feel like ours too: fun and very pop.

Our purpose

Why we celebrate, and why it matters

Starting the festival on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, is no accident: it is a statement of intent. We celebrate this day to highlight and applaud the crucial role women play in the scientific community, and as a call to action to close the gender gap that still persists.

Why is it vital to focus our efforts on bringing girls and women into science?

Innovation with the full picture

The solutions of the future (artificial intelligence, health, climate change) will affect all of humanity. If women are not on the teams building these technologies, the results will be incomplete or biased. We need diversity of thought to solve today's complex problems.

Early intervention to break stereotypes

Studies show that girls often lose interest in STEM around age 11, not for lack of ability but because of cultural stereotypes and lack of motivation. By presenting science in an appealing way (with a pop, fun aesthetic close to what they love today), we break down the false idea that it is a “boring” field or one just for men.

Empowerment and an economic future

Jobs in technology, engineering and science are among the fastest-growing and best-paid worldwide. Encouraging girls to choose these paths gives them the tools for independence, leadership and future economic success.

“If you can see it, you can be it”

By creating a full week of events, panels and workshops led by women, we give girls real role models. Seeing tangible examples helps them imagine themselves as the next leaders, inventors and discoverers of tomorrow.
